Understanding Stress
Stress is a combination of 3 things: (1) a potential stressor, (2) what your mind tells you about the threat it poses, (3) your perceived inability to cope with it.
Understanding Coping
Coping involves five levels of defense that help you either get rid of the stressor, change the way you think about it, or put your body in a relaxed state that cancels it out.
The Five R's of Coping
1. Rethink- change the way you think about potential stressors. 2. Reduce - cut back on the volume of potential stressors in your life. 3. Relax - put your body in a state that cancels out the stress response. 4. Release - use orgasm and physical activity to rid your body of stress-related tension and nervous energy. 5. Reorganize - create a more stress-resistant lifestyle.
